COVID-19 Impact on Council Operations

On Monday, March 30, 2020, Governor Northam issued Executive Order 55, a statewide Stay at Home order, to protect the health and safety of Virginians and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Virginia entered the SAFER AT HOME: Phase 3 on July 1, 2020, which allowed businesses to reopen.

In order to maintain the opening guidelines, directives, and recommendations outlined in Governor Northam's reopening plan, the Southwest Virginia EMS Council is making the following modifications to our operational model:

1)  Our office staff remain available to assist EMS stakeholders, and all vital services are maintained.

2) Employees will be teleworking when possible, or work on a varied schedule.

3)  Incoming phone calls and emails will route directly to council staff.

4)  Council offices are generally closed to the public; however, appointments may be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

5)   All in-person Committee Meetings have been canceled.

6)   Training/testing events are permitted with increased social distancing/cleaning measures.

7)  Council staff will employ additional social-distancing and cleaning measures.

8)  Staff and visitors ARE REQUIRED to wear a mask.

9)  Individuals exhibiting fever or signs and symptoms of COVID-19 are prohibited from entering Council facilities.

10) PPE distribution to EMS agencies continue to be processed upon receipt
