Executive Order 55 Impact on Council Operations

On Monday, March 30, 2020, Governor Northam issued Executive Order 55, a statewide Stay at Home order, to protect the health and safety of Virginians and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The executive order takes effect immediately and will remain in place until June 10, 2020, unless amended or rescinded by a further executive order.

Pursuant to that order and directives by the Virginia Office of EMS, the Southwest Virginia EMS Council is making the following modifications to our operational model:

1)  Our office staff remain available to assist EMS stakeholders, and all vital services are maintained.

2)  PPE distribution continues on a daily basis.

3)  Incoming phone calls and emails will route directly to council staff.

4)  Council offices will be closed to the public.  Appointments may be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

5)   Employees will be teleworking when possible, or work on a varied schedule.

6)   All in-person Committee Meetings have been canceled.

7)  Training/testing events are canceled.

8)  Council staff will employ additional social-distancing and cleaning measures.
