Minimum requirements are Associate’s Degree in related field (or equivalent experience); a current NFPA Firefighter I certification recognized by Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Fire Programs; current Emergency Medical Technician certification; and valid driver’s license. Candidate must successfully obtain certification as Hazardous Materials Technician through Virginia Department of Emergency Management within 3 years of employment. Qualifications:Part –Time Staff Requirements CALL: Part time staff members are expected to volunteer 5 (five) – 12 hour night shifts (6PM to 6AM) per calendar month. These five nights are of the part time staff members choosing; allowing them the ability to cover call nights that best work with their personal schedule. These 5 nights of call are NOT assigned! CALL PAY: For each 12 hour shift of call, the staff member is paid 2 (two) hours of pay regardless of whether they are called in or not. Should the part time staff member be called in they receive pay for the time worked and the two hours of call pay. REQUIRED SHIFT WORK: Part time staff members are requested NOT required to be available to work 2 (two) 12 hour shifts per calendar month ONLY if needed. Typically NO shifts have ever been required of any Part Time Staff member.
